Canada 2025 Banff, Canada Archive
NMUN • Canada - Banff National Park, Canada
NMUN • Canada was held in partnership with MacEwan University amidst the striking mountain landscapes of Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Attendees were surrounded by majestic mountains, thick pine forests, pristine lakes, abundant wildlife, and a snow covered landscape. This unique United Nations simulation for college and university students from all over the world, addressed pressing global environmental and indigenous issues. Students developed and practiced the skills necessary to make a difference. At the conference we strove to adhere to the four Cultural Experiences/Engagement Principles. Outside of committee sessions, we explored Banff National Park, hiked Johnston Canyon, participated in an interactive blanket experience for an intimate encounter with the impact of Canada's colonization on the indigenous population, joined in on indigenous drumming and warrior training sessions, rode the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain, and spent time at Lake Louise.

We respect that the land on which we gather in Treaty Six and Treaty Seven Territory are the traditional gathering places for many Indigenous people. We acknowledge all who live, work, and play here, while honoring the history, languages, ceremonies, stewardship, and culture of the Nations who call these Territories home.
