China 2018 Xi'an, China Archive

NMUN • China - Xi’an

At NMUN • China, delegates from over 34 colleges and universities focused on pressing global issues while marveling at more than 2,000 years of Chinese civilization. The conference was held in Xi’an, a modern city of 8 million inhabitants that embraces its history as an ancient capital at the start of the Silk Road. The conference was held in the Westin hotel, across the street from the Buddhist Big Wild Goose Pagoda / Dayan Pagoda, a UNESCO site built in the 7th Century by the Tang Dynasty. Cultural tours included a visit to the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor that is home to the Terracotta Army and is a UNESCO site built in 200 BCE by the Qin Dynasty, the ancient Xi'an City Wall, as well as the markets and Muslim Quarter dating back to Marco Polo. The conference was held in partnership with Northwestern Polytechnical University, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2018.
