Galápagos
NMUN • Galápagos
Imagine yourself in the Galápagos Islands, one of the most unique and biodiverse places on Earth. You're surrounded by giant tortoises, marine iguanas, sea lions, and Darwin's finches. The air is filled with the sound of birdsong and the crashing of waves. But you're not here just for vacation. You're here to participate in NMUN • Galápagos, a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity for college and university students from all over the world. Our simulation of the United Nations will address pressing global environmental issues. You'll learn about the challenges facing our planet and develop the skills you need to make a difference.
Outside of committee sessions:
- Participate in service learning opportunities in Galápagos National Park.
- Explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the historical city center of Quito and the Galápagos Islands themselves.
- Discover Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado, a center dedicated to the conservation of giant tortoises.
- Cruise to Kicker Rock to snorkel and swim with sharks, large rays, tropical fish, sea turtles, sea lions, and many other unique species.
- Relax and soak up the natural beauty of Galápagos on a hidden beach.
- Interact with the locals (both humans and sea lions) along the waterfront's Malecón.
NMUN • Galápagos is an experience you'll never forget. It's a chance to learn about global environmental issues, develop your leadership skills, and make new friends from all over the world.
We are grateful to our partner, Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Their campus on San Cristóbal Island is located on its own beach adjacent to the national park and trails.
