Four Cultural Experiences/Engagement Principles for NMUN • Canada

Reciprocity

We approach all engagement with Indigenous communities, leaders and knowledge keepers in true partnership – by respecting and responding to traditional protocols, sharing information, and identifying opportunities for initiatives and activities that are mutually beneficial.

Inclusion

In planning events and opportunities, we respect the protocols and traditions of the host Nation(s), while ensuring that activities are reflective of the cultures of broader Indigenous communities.

Intention

All events and opportunities will prioritize respect for Indigenous protocols and traditions, and will be intentionally selected to both maximize the educational experience of participants, and the meaningful engagement of Indigenous communities, leaders and knowledge keepers.

Authenticity

Conference participants will have access to authentic experiences that reflect the diversity and complexity of Indigenous Nations and honour their histories.
