Visa Information

Do I Need a Visa to Visit Japan?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has announced that Japan will restore visa waivers on 11 October. Most attendees who are from a country on their list should not need a visa to travel to Japan after that date. Attendees from countries who are not eligible for a visa waiver should find their country's nearest Japanese Embassy / Consulate and follow their instructions for applying for a short-term stay visa or visit the Japan Visa Application Procedures page. If they want visa assistance from JTB Co. Ltd., Kobe City University of Foreign Studies’ (KCUFS’s) designated agent, the delegation's advisor must request it by 7 October.

As of 11 October, some changes to Japanese government entry requirements:

  • Visa exemption measures reinstated for ordinary passport holders of 68 countries / regions.
  • The ERFS (Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System) will be abolished.
  • Travel agent requirement for tourism will be abolished.
  • Quarantine and arrival COVID testing will be  abolished.
  • The daily entrant cap will be abolished.
  • Please note, the triple vaccination or a pre-departure PCR testing requirement will be maintained.

The above information is subject to change before the conference dates. Attendees are responsible for staying abreast of and following all Japanese entry requirements. Check with the nearest Japanese Embassy / Consulate to ensure that all members of your delegation are in compliance with them.
