Tina Stoum is a development professional who has worked and studied on five continents. Before arriving in China in 2018, she has worked for the United Nations at the International Organisation for Migration, UN Development Programme, and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Norway, Kenya, Turkey, and New York, USA. Prior to working for the UN, Tina worked for her national government in Norway and for local NGOs in Asia and Latin America. Some of the development issues that Tina has worked on are human rights education, gender equality and women’s empowerment, migrant issues and refugee rights, judicial/court reform, and jobs and livelihood opportunities after a crisis. Tina is a staunch believer in sustainable development for all, regardless age, location, gender, or any other characteristic. 

During her education, Tina participated in Model UN conferences in Norway, USA, and Costa Rica. Recently, in spring 2018, she was fortunate to support the inter-governmental sessions at the UN Headquarters in New York for the formulation of the new global Migration Compact, to be officially adopted by Member States in December 2018.
